Is There A Possibility For A Double Championship This Year In Boston, And Which Boston Team’s Trophy Would Mean More?

The City of Boston is no stranger to hosting duckboats and championship parades, but this year seems to have higher expectations than usual. Now, Bruins fans and Celtics fans don’t always cross paths, but you can bet during playoff season, the puckheads and green team unite to cheer for one another.

It seems like they may have plenty of opportunity to do so this year, as both the Boston Bruins and Celtics are primed for deep playoff runs. What would it mean for a DOUBLE championship this spring?

How Realistic is it?

Both teams have a legitimate shot at the championship this year, and it’s not just a pipe dream. With the NBA trade deadline behind us and Brooklyn getting rid of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, it looks like the East has gotten a bit easier now. I’m not saying it will be a cakewalk, but it certainly is a relief not to face the offensive firepower that Brooklyn possessed prior to the two superstars’ departure.

The Bruins may have a more challenging road to the Stanley Cup Championship, but that is always expected in the NHL, as the trophy is pegged as “the hardest to win in sports.” Their season thus far, however, has been one of dominant fashion as they are on pace to break an NHL record for most regular season potential wins.

All aspects of the game are clicking for them, with the highest goal differential in the league at +81, 37 more than the next highest in the league. The goaltending has also been incredible, with Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman combining for the fewest goals against in the NHL at 111.

Who Is More Likely To Win It All

That’s a tough question. It’s clear the Bruins are having a more dominant season, but we go back to the statement, “The Stanley Cup is the hardest trophy to win in all sports.” When you look at both teams and their road to the finals, it seems the Celtics have an advantage.

I would agree that they have a better chance of winning it all, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see both of these teams hoist a trophy and cue the duckboats.

Whos Championship Win Would Be More Impressive

I think both are equally as impressive. The Celtics have a homegrown, organic roster, which is super rare in today’s NBA. Players are constantly clicking up to take down the top dog, and much like the Golden State Warriors, the Celtics built through the draft.

That’s definitely impressive. On the Bruins, heading into this season, any fan would tell you they were nervous about how this season would play out.

With early injuries and what seemed like a roster with no offensive depth and goaltending questions, boy, have they proved us wrong. Let’s hope we have some parades to attend this summer in the City of Boston, whether one or two!
