The Celtics start the season 5-3 at a time when many questioned their next steps. After the Ime Udoka incident and the taking over of Joe Mazzulla, many fans were hesitant to show complete confidence in their team.

Luckily, the Mazzulla project is well in effect, and the team looks better than ever. Jayson Tatum is playing the best ball of his career, the front office is backing the squad, and all looks good for Boston. Is this team good enough to win it all, even through the turmoil?

The Stars: Jay’s Make Statement

It seems to me that there is no more true No. 1 player in Boston, Yes, Jayson Tatum is playing better than we have ever seen, but the man right behind him is doing just as good. Jaylen Brown has averaged 26 points per game this year and is on the court for more minutes. When your two best players average over 20 points alone, that is impressive. However, both of these guys look like All-NBA talent, with JT sitting at 9th in PPG while JB rests at 13th.

Obviously, there’s no need to harp on this team defensively. Led by reigning DPOY Marcus Smart, there’s no need to worry about the Point Guard position. Once Robert Williams III comes back healthy, it is game over in the post.

The secret weapons are playing just as well as previously, with Malcolm Brogdon, Grant Williams, and Al Horford leading the charge. Old man Horford is still playing consistently, with 8.7 points and 6.2 rebounds on very good efficiency. When we talk about efficiency, we need to talk about Grant Williams.

He is averaging almost 10 points per game shooting 63.3% from the field and 57.1% from three. That statistic is absolutely absurd.

Are the Celtics the Real Deal, and Ready to Win?

The biggest question for the Celtics fan is this: Are the Celts prepared to win the Larry O’Brien? The answer is an astounding yes.

A homegrown team with drafted talent is a must, especially when they are capable on both ends of the court. What I didn’t mention before is the jay’s assist stats, as I found them more relevant now. Both players are averaging 3 or more assists per game, and you can see the lack of selfishness on the court.

Even without Robert Williams III, this team still beat an incredibly talented Bulls roster led by a Demar DeRozan 40-point game. Despite this, the team rallied, and came away with the win. 5 Celtics players had 10 or more points, and Brogdon came off the bench with 25.

Despite there being 3 guards in the rotation, Tatum still led the team in assists with 6. The talent on this team is undeniable, and the players have a great sense of chemistry. I expect this team to be the No. 1 through 3 in the East, and compete yet again for the championship.
